Reports to the Chief Operations Officer

Job Description:

The Community Outreach Coordinator (the “Coordinator”) will work with the Director of Community Engagement (“DCE”) and serve as the one of the points of contact for community outreach initiatives, as shall be assigned. The Coordinator will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer (“COO”) to plan and execute FDHA initiatives and other projects, as shall be assigned. The Coordinator will be responsible for conducting site visits with short-term grantees and attending their events, as assigned. Additionally, the Coordinator will represent the organization at community events. Representation, will include, but not limited to, staffing our vendor table, providing information and resources to the community and ensuring that our representation during community events is consistent with our branding and executed in a professional and appealing manger.

The Coordinator handles communication with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the FDHA (staff, Board, GHS, partners, vendors). Assists with coordination of projects, as assigned and works closely with vendors and interns when assigned. The Coordinator will ensure that promotional items remain on hand, as required, and are properly inventoried and accounted for.

Extensive project coordination will be required. The Coordinator will serve as the point of contact on projects, as assigned and will be required to provide timely follow up and follow through on all assignments. The Coordinator will account for all field hours through the reporting system required by Chief Operations Officer. The Coordinator will be expected toprofessionally and enthusiastically promote FDHA brand and Grady Health System.

Essential Functions:

  1. Strong knowledge of the Fulton and DeKalb County communities and experience in those counties with local organizations and government officials.
  2. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and implement initiatives and projects.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly communicate and explain the FDHA’s mission and goals, develop written correspondence, and contribute to the quarterly newsletter and collateral materials.
  4. Must possess strong ability in problem solving and making decisive decisions.
  5. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills as it pertains to resolving conflicts and generating areas of collaboration.
  6. Possess self-direction and resourcefulness.
  7. A creative thinker who applies innovative solutions to problems and design and implements procedures that will help the organization to grow and be sustainable.
  8. Understands the vision of the organization, how to contribute and recognizes opportunities to help the organization accomplish its objectives and vision.

  19. Strong knowledge of the FDHA policy, partners, Board and Mission and ability to represent the aforementioned when speaking with stakeholders

  23. Other duties as shall be assigned

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Experience and Skills Required

  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of word processing tools
  • Strong background in contact database utilization
  • Experience monitoring vendors
  • Outstanding communication skills (oral and writing)
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects
  • Experience in an office setting supporting the Community Outreach Team and working with public officials
  • Must demonstrate a progression in responsibility and the ability to multi-task and develop cooperative working relationships between management, staff, board, volunteers and community.
  • Must possess excellent people and management skills, as well as a working knowledge of the healthcare industry. Proficient with Microsoft Office, and general computer programs.


Regular work days are Monday – Friday: Weekend and evening work will be required to participate in events of partner organizations or FDHA led activities. This is a salaried position; no additional compensation will be provided.


Must possess a reliable vehicle. Travelwill be required throughout the state of Georgia, predominantly in Fulton and DeKalb counties. May travel outside the state of Georgia to participate in health education and community health opportunities.
